Alvin Langdon Coburn

 

• Alvin Langdon Coburn was born on June 11th, 1882 and died on November 23th, 1966.
•  He became a key figure in the development of American pictorialiam.
• In 1890, his uncle gave him a 4x5 Kodak camera. At this point, he discovered his talent and love for photography.
• His cousin, F.Holland Day, who was already an international photographer. He noticed Alvin's talent and encouraged him to be a photographer.
•  In 1902, coburn opened his own studio in New York.
• In 1917, he showed the first abstract photographs, which he called 'Vortographs'
